Zain Qureshi is a Managing Director in the Corporate and Investment Banking Group at Mashreq and Head of Real Estate Finance and Advisory. He established the bank’s real estate practice in 2006, which has since grown a significant to encompass debt products, a leading trust management business with market share, buy and sell-side advisory activities, strategic advice, restructuring and capital raising. During his time as head of the Real Estate Division, Mashreq became one of the first banks in the UAE to provide non-recourse debt for pure development projects. Additionally, Zain heads the Investment and Agency Services divisions for Mashreq and has also recently been given the responsibility to manage the Corporate Restructuring Portfolio.

Prior to joining Mashreq, Zain held senior positions at Deutsche Bank and Bank of America, where he spent significant time working on the leverage finance side based primarily out of London.

Richard Thompson is Editorial Director of MEED.

He is responsible for business development, product and content delivery, and for providing editorial and content leadership and management oversight at MEED.

He is responsible for ensuring that all MEED products and services are delivered to highest possible standards of quality and timeliness and for ensuring that MEED’s content operations are delivered on time and within budget. His responsibilities also cover client and government relations as well as new product development. Additionally, Richard is responsible for promoting and marketing MEED and for ensuring MEED maintains a high public profile. Consequently, Richard is a well-known and highly regarded speaker and commentator on regional economic affairs and speaks regularly to business audiences around the world and in the region.

Richard joined MEED in 2003 as managing Editor. He was became MEED editor in 2007 and was appointed to his current position in 2010. As Editorial Director of MEED, Richard has had responsibility for managing offices in India as well as the editorial teams in the UK and the UAE.

Prior to joining MEED, Richard working in the UK business media at Construction News and New Civil Engineer magazines, both owned by MEED’s owner Emap. Prior to joining Emap, Richard working in the UK coivil engineering and construction industry with Laing O’Rourke, Trafalgar House Major Projects and Atkins.

Richard has a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Relations obtained in 1995 from the University of Kent in the UK. He also has a Bachelors of Engineering (BEng) degree in Civil Engineering and Management Law awarded by the UK’s University of Dundee in 1989. He is UK citizen and has been resident in the UAE since 2009.

Iyad Sabouni is a Chartered Structural Engineer with nearly 20 years’ experience in a wide range of complex projects, across multiple sectors, in design and construction management.

He has worked on projects of all scales and complexity in the Middle East, and North America.

Managing key client portfolios for AECOM, Iyad currently focuses on identifying and developing business opportunities within the Middle East region. His broad project experience encompasses mega cities, communities’ development, theme parks, retail, hotel, commercial, and mixed-use developments and he is a proven operational specialist, with an intimate knowledge of the Middle East construction market.

Iyad holds a Master’s degree in Construction Management and a Master in Business Administration.

Mr. Ali Haydar Ozak has been TAV Construction Abu Dhabi Regional Director since 2012. He was also the Project Director for Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal Building from 2012 till May 2017 where he currently acts as the Board Member for the Main Contractor. He has been working for TAV Construction since 2003, he served as Tendering and Proposals Director in Istanbul where he was responsible for preparation of tenders for international and national projects, financial and technical proposals and business development activities.

He involved in the selected airport an infrastructure tenders in the GCC, North Africa and Eastern Europe. He also acted as Board Member for some of the critical airport and infrastructure projects in the region.

Mr. Ali Haydar Ozak is a graduate of Blacksea Technical University in Turkey and holds Masters Degree in Construction Management from Birmingham University in the UK.

A well-rounded creative and business oriented professional with a track record of successfully directing large scale and complex mixed use real estate development & construction of projects from inception to completion for over 17 years, delivering exceptional results through a genuine entrepreneur approach.

A seasoned professional with excellent problem-solving skills in construction management, development, contracting, project and design management along with core expertise in management of multi - disciplinary projects with complex civil engineering, building, mechanical and electrical aspects.

Currently under his leadership in Sobha, he oversees development of strategies in conjunction with the Founder & Chairman - Mr. PNC Menon for geographic expansion and diversification of company’s real estate development business. He is responsible for the overall management and monitoring of master planning, project life cycle, design and delivery of all real estate projects. Current projects include the 8 million square feet freehold mixed-use development – Sobha Hartland in MBR City.

Francis also plays an instrumental role in identifying and executing diverse opportunities for Sobha, in terms of both new sectors and geographies.

Francis is a gold medalist from Annamalai university, Tamil Nadu and holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree. He has also undergone training in Quality and Technology in construction at Japan, and has closely working with renowned M/s Nikken Sekkai Architects.

In his previous stints, he has held senior positions within the organisation both in Dubai and India. He is an avid reader and always keen to learn new developments and market innovations keeping himself abreast with the demands of a competitive construction industry.
